About the Site

Back in 2007, when the Internet was just getting its first pair of long pants, Father Pitt established the site that bears his name as a place to publish his photographs of Pittsburgh and its larger metropolitan area.

Some people—probably not very many—are interested in how those pictures have come to be.

As a photographer, old Pa Pitt is in a state of perpetual learning. He looks at last year’s pictures and thinks they would be so much better if he had done them this year. Next year he will feel the same way about this year’s pictures.

So here is a place where Father Pitt can talk about photography itself, and where he can share some of the discoveries he has made, and where perhaps other people can learn from his many mistakes.

Every article on this site is what Father Pitt was thinking of the subject at the time. His opinions will change, or he would not be learning anymore, and then what fun would life be? He will try to indicate when he has changed his thinking, but he doesn’t promise that he will remember to do it all the time.
